Hardware Requirements
The ASPEN Line Database runs on Intel Pentium-based PCs and compatibles. Other hardware requirements are:
• A color monitor with 1920 x 1080 or better resolution.
• A hard disk with at least 40 MBfree.
Software Requirements
• Microsoft Windows 7 or newer.
•Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) library version 2.7 or later.
•Oracle or MS SQL Client program that matches version of the database server and Windows platform in use.
Database Engines Supported:
•The Line Database program utilizes Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) middleware technology for accessing database servers. This allows the programs to work with wide range of existing and future versions of database engines, as long as the Windows PC on which the programs are running has: 1) The correct OLE DB data provider library; and 2) The correct client for database server. At the time of this writing, the database engines supported include Oracle 12g or higher, or Microsoft SQL Server 2012 or higher. The hardware requirements for the database server vary widely depending on the operating system and program version. Please consult the documentation of the database software for more information.
Database Size and User Account:
•Storage space requirement is directly proportional to the number of transmission lines and other data that to be stored in the database. For large electric utilities, the amount of data storage can reach in terabyte range.
•The program requires one database user account with alter, read and write access. Additionally, create and drop table access privilege is needed for this user during the database setup and version upgrade.
